Ed Cannon joined T&M in November 2009 and serves as Vice President of the Security Consulting Services division. Prior to joining T&M, Mr. Cannon completed more than twenty-five years of progressively responsible and diverse administration within the New York City Police Department (NYPD), where he retired on June 30th, 2006 as an Assistant Chief. Since that time, he has been performing consulting work on projects requiring his expertise in areas including threat and risk assessments, executive protection program reviews, crisis management, threat management and business continuity, police management and crime control, public safety, counter-terrorism, high threat environment security, concept of operations (con-ops) protocols, emergency management, guard force management and traffic analysis and control. His consulting experience preceded his NYPD retirement as he provided assistance to police departments in other cities interested in managing crime and disorder. He is also an experienced trainer, having created curriculum and instructions for the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in jurisdictions throughout the nation on critical incident response post 9-11 and for police entrance and promotional exams. Additionally, since joining T&M, he has developed and delivered numerous training sessions including personal safety and security in the workplace, prevention of workplace violence, active shooter response and other security training sessions designed specifically for corporate clients, schools and other organizations.

During Mr. Cannon’s NYPD career, he was in command of three Precincts (81st, 32nd, 75th), the Communications Division and the Traffic Control Division and was Executive Officer of Patrol Borough Queens North and Brooklyn Detectives. These especially, and his other assignments, provided extensive experience in successful special event planning, management and operational implementation, as well as security, emergency preparedness and disaster response contingency and recovery planning. His experience includes the planning and overseeing of police operations for the 2004 Republican National Convention, the United Nations General Assembly, events at Shea Stadium (including the 2000 Subway World Series and the resumption of major league baseball following September 11th, 2001), the U.S. Tennis Open, the NYC Marathon, the NYC blackout and transit strike. Many of these assignments involved dignitary protection and cooperative liaison and coordination with federal, state and other local law enforcement agencies, as well as with other public agencies, private organizations and elected officials.

Mr. Cannon’s success in each of his assignments was recognized with discretionary promotions by each of the last four NYPD Police Commissioners.
