Karen has a Bachelors of Science in Physical Therapy from the University
of Wisconsin Madison and a Masters of Science in Exercise & Sport Science
from the University of Arizona.

She has been a Physical Therapist for over 35 years, the last 30 specializing in the prevention and management of work related injuries.

She started the Carondelet Injury Prevention & Management Program at St. Mary’s Hospital in 1988. Over a four year period Carondelet reduced workers compensation claims, lost work days, and losses per FTE resulting in a 45% decrease toward their self insured work comp fund contribution.

She has been in private practice doing Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCEs) and injury prevention consulting since 1999, has performed over 2700 FCEs and worked on-site with over 100 companies, government agencies and organizations.

She has co-authored 2 books on Cumulative Trauma Disorders and Ergonomics and is also published in the area of ADA and Ergonomics.

In May of 2007 an article on the results of a back injury prevention program with the Tucson Fire Department was published in the Journal of Occupational Health and Toxicology.

She has given presentations on a variety of topics at the local, state and national levels and has guest lectured at the University of Arizona presenting on Ergonomics, Cumulative Trauma Disorders, Functional Capacity Evaluations and Physical Assessment.

Karen strives to empower and motivate individuals to take control and responsibility for their health and well-being by investing in what she calls our Body Bank.
